Designing a Timeless Poolside Escape
The homeowners in Mason contacted The Custom Deck Guys to build a deck that would complement their pool area, providing a functional space for relaxation and entertainment. The old deck no longer met their needs for durability or style, and the new design had to offer both visual appeal and lasting practicality.
Tackling the Challenges
We began by removing the old deck and preparing the area. A key challenge was designing a deck that would flow with the natural landscape and offer easy access to the pool. The elevation changes required dual staircases, which we carefully integrated into the design.
To create a deck that would withstand the elements, we selected TimberTech Terrain composite decking, which offers the look of natural wood without the maintenance. The decking was laid with precision, incorporating accent borders for a clean, defined finish.
A built-in bench was installed along the house-facing side, providing additional seating that blends into the deck design and improves the space’s flow.

The completed pool deck combines beauty and functionality. The TimberTech Terrain composite decking resists the elements while offering a warm, wood-like appearance. The built-in bench provides comfortable seating without taking up extra space.
Vertical fascia around the skirting gives the deck a polished look, and the dual staircases ensure smooth access from the upper deck to the pool. The Preferred Georgian aluminum railing adds a timeless, black contrast to the deck, enhancing its overall design while offering safety and security.
