A New Outdoor Space for Oxford Homeowners

The project began with removing the old deck, and it wasn’t long before we encountered an issue. The footers beneath the deck had deteriorated over time, necessitating the excavation of new footers to ensure the new structure would have a solid foundation.
As we worked, we also noticed that the original joist spacing was too wide. To fix this, we carefully adjusted the spacing and reinforced the framework with treated lumber, making sure the deck would be stable and secure for years to come.
One of the homeowner’s requests was a picture frame border around the perimeter of the deck. This required precise cuts and careful installation, but the result was a clean, polished finish that added a sleek touch to the design.
The final deck, measuring 12ft x 20ft, fits perfectly into the backyard. Two gates were added at the top and bottom of the stairs for added security, and a sun sail was installed above the deck to provide shade on warm days. Finally, joist tape was applied to the frame for extra protection from moisture.
